About Cottage Industry Content

Since 2019, Cottage Industry Content has improved user experience and driven engagement for companies like Meta, Zoe, Siemens, and Shorelight.

 I’m Matt, the Boston-based founder of Cottage Industry Content. Before starting my own business, I held product and marketing leadership positions and worked on talented user experience and search engine optimization teams. I’ve also run newspaper editorial departments, written a travel book, and earned a master’s degree in digital publishing.

I combine the skills and best practices of several business perspectives that I’ve learned through experience:
  • A product manager’s overarching strategic focus and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • An SEO’s research, analysis, technical optimization, and link-building skills
  • A journalist’s ability to write for a specific audience, interview, conduct original research, and present findings
  • A UX content strategist’s user-focused approach and design thinking framework

I'm also a dad to three exceptional children. (I am highly proficient at transporting them to clubs, sports, and theatrical productions.)

I’m passionate about food and the local food economy and can cook you a killer bourguignon (beef- or mushroom-based).
